About the Cash Drawer

Linking your mechanical cash drawer to EPOS360 completes the POS hardware loop, enabling your drawer to pop open automatically whenever a cash transaction is settled at checkout.

Before you begin

  • Prerequisite: You must have an active receipt printer connected in EPOS360 (Hardware > Printer).
  • Locate the cash drawer’s integration cable (RJ11 / RJ12 phone-style connector).
  • Physical Lock Check: Ensure the manual key on the front of the cash drawer is turned to the Vertical / Unlocked position. If locked with the key, the electronic pulse will be physically blocked from popping the drawer open.

Connecting the Cash Drawer

Connect the Physical Hardware Link

Before configuring software settings in EPOS360, establish the physical trigger connection between your receipt printer and cash drawer.

  1. Locate the Cash Drawer Cable: Identify the modular integration cable attached to the back of your cash drawer (RJ11 / RJ12 connector).
  2. Plug Cable into Printer DK Port: Plug the cable directly into the rear Drawer Kick / DK port on the back of your thermal receipt printer.
  3. Confirm Secure Lock: Push the connector firmly into the port until you hear a solid click

CRITICAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENT: Cash drawers do not have built-in Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, or power sources. They must be physically plugged into the rear Drawer Kick / DK port of a paired receipt printer. The printer delivers the electrical pulse required to trigger the latch.

Step 2: Synchronize the Cash Drawer in EPOS360

Once the physical cable is snapped into place, complete the register routing sequence in the app:

  1. From your primary register dashboard interface, tap the More tab icon located at the bottom-right corner.
  2. Select Hardware from the operations management menu list.
  3. On the main Hardware control screen, select Cash Drawer.
  4. On the configuration page, tap the blue Add Cash Drawer bar.
  5. Under the Select Connection Method layout options window, select Printer.
  6. Tap the long blue Connect button at the bottom of the interface.
  7. A green confirmation banner showing “Connected successfully” will verify the link is live.

Your mechanical cash drawer is now fully synchronized and will pop open automatically whenever cash transactions are settled at checkout.
